Pediatric Surgery
Pediatric Surgery
Department website:
The pediatric surgery classes span 5 days and conclude with a test. Despite them being scheduled during the same block as other surgical disciplines, Pediatric Surgery is not part of the final surgery exam in the 6th year.
The classes include: one day in the operating room, one day at the simulation center (suturing), one day in the outpatient clinic, one day in the department and one day of seminars. After each of the 4 classes, a seminar follows (11:00 - 11:45).
The final assessment is a 10-question MCQ test, with one correct answer per question. To prepare effectively, we advise to seek preparation tips from students who have already completed the test.
The credit test was written on the last day of seminars, after the last seminar. We could go home afterwards.
The test was 10 questions long, multiple choice with one correct option, and enough time was given to complete it.
The tip that we want to pass on is to ask older groups for advice what to prepare. Everyone passed the test, so it was fair.
To get credit in this subject, it is necessary to attend all classes and to pass the credit test at the end. There is no grade entering your transcript.
Nota bene: we remind that Pediatric Surgery is NOT part of the Surgery syllabus, i.e., not part of the surgery final exam in 6th year, despite it being held together during the same block.
