Pathomorphology is an extensive course which begins in winter semester of 2nd year and concludes with a final exam in winter semester of 3rd year. Thus, making it a rather challenging course.
This subject deals with the appearance of different pathological diseases at a morphological and histological level. Therefore, the student should be aware that their knowledge of histology is very important - as this will be a crucial element in the students overall understanding of the course.
The course presents with weekly classes and lectures. Additionally, credits are written every two weeks - therefore, continuous studying is important.

Familiarise yourself with every professor and their approach to questions for the credits, as this varies between the different professors. If you have any questions - it is recommended to approach your professor at the department, as emailing has varying degrees of response rate.
A book recommended by professors is "Robbins Pathology." , while students find "Pathoma" and "BRS Pathology" to be easier to comprehend. Osmosis is another extensively used resource. "Webpath Utah" is also useful to access examples of histological slides.
Consistent reading and revision is key!
Usually set by the department with up to 30 MCQs that are case-style, including up to 5 pictures. Time to write is usually 30 - 40 min. The credits are mainly in person with some online.
There is no passing threshold for individual credits, however students usually aim for at least 18 points per credit (60%).
Keep track of your score and the maximum possible points per semester. To pass, you need to have at least 55% of the maximum points per semester. Students who do not reach 55% will have to pass a midterm test.
* Midterm Test
30 MCQ test at the end of a semester. 55% of points are required to pass. In case of failure, an oral exam with the Head of Department will be organised.Held after three semesters during the examination session. The representative can suggest a date, but the date is ultimately decided by the department.
Histological Slides: 20 to 25 slides presented on a projector, 30 seconds per slide, with each slide repeatedly displayed throughout the exam.
Theory: 95 to 100 multiple choice questions with one correct answer. Students will be examined on content spanning the whole course.
Both parts are written in one sitting, with the duration of the exam being approximately 2.5 hours long.
Bonus Points (wasn't applicable in 2025, so ask according to your year)
Two conditions: 1) Students who participated in over 90% of classes get bonus points on the exam. 2) The sum of credit points sets the amount of bonus points.Exemption
No exemption possible.Credit is received upon passing the final exam, and will be presented as a grade out of 5 - solely from the Final Exam.
