Anatomy
Anatomy might be the subject that is the most fun but it is definitely also the most challenging to pass. It is by far the largest one, and the only one with two lectures and two classes that are held every week. Additionally, it is known to be a subject in which most people need more than one take (in the exams) in order to pass.
The lectures are uploaded online on the department's YouTube channel and should be carefully watched (and remembered by heart). They are of very high quality and usually, in our experience, require no further research in order to understand the topic. It is useful to watch each lecture before the class since the classes precisely align with the lectures. Keep in mind that lectures might be removed from YouTube eventually, so take comprehensive notes or download them to your computer.
During the classes, the content of the lectures is demonstrated on real body specimens. Some teachers will question you on the lecture's content and will roast you if you miss knowledge (if you can't handle that, come prepared). On top of this, after every class, a short pin test is written requiring correct naming of pinned structures, however, it is not graded and only serves for your own track of progress.
To be well-prepared for the credits and the final exam, we advise you to consistently study the lecture content, as it can accumulate rapidly. The best way to keep up is with pre-made Anki decks from older students; socialise and integrate yourself well in order to receive and update those decks together.
Attendance is mandatory and unexcused absences from too many classes lead to not being admitted to write the credit. Arrive on time since the doors will get locked after the classes have started.
Apart from that: Enjoy the ride!
The course consists of 9 credits in total, each will be written after completing a sequence of classes on a specific topic.
The credits consist of a certain number of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and a practical pin test where you need to recognize anatomical structures on the specimens. The ratio of pins and theoretical questions is varying depending on the topic (mostly 20 MCQs and 10 pins, but please check on the department's website).
All classes are mandatory, and to be eligible for the credit, you need to attend at least 50% of the classes for each topic, regardless of whether you have a sick note or not.
Point summation
To be admitted to the final exam, you need a minimum score of 35% (77 out of 220 points) from all credits combined. Please note that this may be more challenging than it sounds. If you don't get the 35%, there is no other way to get to the final exam and you will need to retake anatomy as a whole in the next year.Format: 60 MCQs covering all the topics covered throughout the year.
Passing Grade: 51% (31 out of 60 points).
Timing: 60 minutes, which can be quite challenging.
Retakes: There are 2 possible retakes of the final exam, which will be organized by the department in August or September.
Exemption
Students who achieve an average of 95% for all credits do not need to take the final exam. In the past years, the top 3 students usually got exempted from the final exam regardless of the total points achieved.Credit received after passing the final exam.
The grade is taken from the exam.
For the grading scale, consider the department's website.
