The first meeting during the academic year of 2023/2024 was held in the aula of the DSK. The Professor then told us the plan of the week which in this case was online classes and a meeting at the Hospice near the Jurowiecka shopping center.
Most 5th year lectures were held online, but some were scheduled in person (though these never took place). Attendance was not taken, but if too few students logged in, the lecturer waited for more participants to join before starting the lecture.
Seminars were held after class, also online. After class, we had about 45 minutes to return home and log in. Unfortunately, there was no open room to join; instead, students had to inform each other when the assistants had opened the Blackboard room - often a few minutes late, requiring us to repeatedly check Blackboard for updates.
Classes were held in various locations throughout the hospital, and all were genuinely captivating. Each day, we rotated between different assistants, ultimately needing to collect their signatures and stamps on a provided paper, which was essential to bring for the exam. The assistants throughout the course were all really good; they were eager to teach and fostered a engaging learning environment.
Some classes took place in a palliative care center situated slightly further away from the hospital (directions will be provided to you).
During the course, there were no tests or quizzes.
Classes of the third year finish with a test consisting of 15 questions conducted during the last lecture. it is required to achieve above 60% of correct answers. In the case of failure, or an excused absence, an individual oral assessment with the instructor is possible. In our year (23/24), everyone passed.
The final exam comprised 60 multiple-choice questions with only one correct answer. Answers had to be registered on a separate answer sheet. A passing score of 60% was required.
To be eligible for the final exam, students were required to collect all signatures from classes. The signed paper and student ID were checked at the entrance to the exam room.
In terms of difficulty, we recommend seeking out flashcards and other exam preparation materials from higher years. While the exam did include some questions from updated lectures, the majority was covered in existing exam preparation materials.
The condition to get the final course credit is
presence and active participation in all practical classes, seminars and lectures,
passing the exam.
The grade in 5th year is taken from the exam.
