Infectious Diseases
Infectious Diseases
This course lasts over the whole year and finishes in the summer with a final exam. Throughout the year, there were lectures held independently to the classes. There were no tests throughout the whole course but the exam.
The lectures were held online and had no attendance.
The classes were held in two departments in the Zurawia hospital, in two different blocks.
Part 1: Department of Infectious Diseases and Hepatology ›
A 2-weeks long course in the Winter Semester concerned mostly with hepatoinfections, zoonoses/parasitic and viral diseases. The seminars started at 08:00 and lasted usually about 45 minutes and no preparation was required –thankfully, because they didn't follow a schedule so we couldn't know what to prepare. After that, the groups waited for their assistants to start classes, which either were specialized discussions or visiting patients.
Part 2: Department of Infectious Diseases and Neuroinfections
This 2-week long course in the Summer Semester concerned mostly with infections of the nervous system and tick-borne diseases. The seminars started shortly after 08:00 and lasted up to two hours. Again, no participation/preparation required, SCHEDULE?. After that, the groups waited for their assistants to start classes, which either were specialized discussions or visiting patients.
There were no other assessments during the course.
The final exam took place in the summer semester and consisted of 50 MCQs (one correct answer).
We had 60 minutes but many people just needed half of the time. If you listed to the lecture and seminars, the questions were managable. Older student material will help you to delimit the topics, but in 2024 we had almost only new questions.
Focus especially on Hepatitis (A,B,C,D,E), parasitic infections and tick born diseases.
Many people passed the first attempt.
Exemption
There is no exemption possible.Retake
The retake usually takes place around 1 week from the 1st take. The general subject area was the same but the total number of questions was reduced. The subject will appear credited with a grade in your transcript.
The grade is solely based on the exam.
For the grading scale, consider the department's website/syllabus/coordinator.
