We recommend visiting the provider's website and booking a seat beforehand, if that can be arranged. Especially when coming from Warsaw to Białystok. Many locals book their tickets in advance, and there's a chance that a bus is fully booked out by the time it arrives at the station and won't allow you aboard (esp. the afternoon connections).
